Walter & Mary Dombrowski — butchers in New Jersey for nearly 40 years. The trade Ted grew up around.
Our Story
A butcher’s trade, handed down.
Ted Dombrowski opened Ted’s Butcherblock in 2005 to give downtown Charleston something it was missing — a real, full-service neighborhood butcher.
The trade runs in the family. Ted’s grandparents, Walter and Mary, came from Poland in 1918 and ran a butcher shop in New Jersey for nearly forty years — living above the store, curing kielbasa from a family recipe in a cellar smokehouse, Mary delivering orders by trolley.
Two decades on East Bay, Ted holds to that same standard: everything hand-cut to order, all-natural, and made in house.
“We believe you should know everything you can about the food you eat — from where it was raised to what it ate and how it was processed.”
